THE RANKS OF NI'SRILAN
THE COUNCIL
The Council will be made up of 3 horses. They will be elected by the herd every 2 seasons and may hold their seat for their life if they are elected every time. They are not given any special abilities or luxuries in the realm, and if un-diligent in their duties, the Sovereignty and the Trinity can take them out of their chair. The main purpose of the Council will be divided into three parts: integration, communication, and training.
Integration will involve the "parent" aspect of the herd. This will be where every newcomer must have a "parent" in Ni'Srilan that will teach them about the ways of the Vipers and how to advance, what the Vipers are looking for, etc. It is up to the Council to decide how this is run and what the proportion parent:newcomer will be.
Communication will be to be "overseers" of the realm. They will watch for any discord within the realm, speak about problems with the herd, and generally see how morale fares. Everything must be reported to the Sovereignty. This job can also be shared by the Prophets/Dreamspeaker.
The Council will also oversee training. They will make sure that each head of the groups are training their underlings, and may also provide special "training" themselves if they do not see enough training occurring. They will be keeping tallies on training to recommend to the Sovereignty who has been trying and should be promoted or demoted. This position will not interfere with any other position in the realm.
The Commander
The leader of the Army and the primary advisor -- in matters of war -- of
the Sovereign(s). Responsible for overall Army strategies and, in the absence
of the Sovereign(s), judging the warriors of Ni'Srilan. Together with the
Nightweaver and the Dreamspeaker, is responsible for deciding which prisoners
to return and when, and who should be targeted by the Army. When in times
of war, responsible for strategies of both defense and offense. Responsible
also (together with the Nightweaver and the Dreamspeaker) for devising alliances
with other herds.
Requirements The Commander must be at least a Silver, but
preferarbly a Gold.
The Generals
The second-in-commands of the Army, responsible for working in the inside
and together with the warriors rather than the broader spectrum that befalls
the Commander. Responsible for the daily planning of the Army, which includes
but is not limited to: setting up intra-herd training for the Ni'Srilan army,
coordinating inter-herd pairings (as in, who of Ni'Srilan should accept a
given challenge and who shouldn't). The purpose is to minimize the loss of
prisoners and keep the warriors from being taken. The generals should be aware
of the strengths and weaknesses of the warriors both from Ni'Srilan and from
the other herds. If needed, they can issue rewards and punishments to the
army members, although this shouldn't be required.
Requirements Silver or Bronze is prefered but not required,
as this is more about strategy than fighting skill per se.
THE LIEUTENANTS
The eyes and ears of the army: they are responsible for keeping peace, for
resolving issues and for, well, encouraging that the warriors know each other.
They send feedback to the generals about the perceived strengths and weaknesses
of the warriors. They act as advisors to the generals, helping or filling
in when/if needed.
Requirements activity in Blitzkrieg and Ni'Srilan, only.
THE GLADIATORS
... provide the entertainment :p just kidding. The working bees of the Army
-- responsible for taking back prisoners and fighting for their freedom. Most
gladiators will have to have proved their worth in Blitzkrieg -- and obey
the advice given by the Generals, shirking those challenges they are likely
to lose (based on their current skill level as well as their opponent's) and
picking others.
Requirements usually, the Gladiator will have to be at least
a Bronze.
THE SOLDIERS
Evolved Recruits: in training still, fighting each other and willing members
of allied herds (practice spars only - no prisoners taken or given yet!),
furthering their skills and showing what they are capable of.
Requirements activity within Ni'Srilan and Blitzkrieg both, as long
as they keep in mind the Generals' rules.
THE RECRUITS
Those who have just arrived and been accepted into Ni'Srilan but have not
yet proven their battle worth and skills in Blitzkrieg, as well as young warriors
(such as colts and fillies who want to learn about the art before they are
mature enough to fight).
Requirements willingness to be a punchbag, really :p activity
in Ni'Srilan.
THE NIGHTWEAVER
The leader of the Espionage and -- together with the Commander and the Dreamspeaker
-- advisor of the Sovereignty. Responsible for keeping track of the espionage
both within and outside of Ni'Srilan, as well as coming up with steal strategies
for the kingdom. Responsible for organizing the spies and advising in prisoner
exchanges and negotiations. S/he is also responsible for aiding the Sovereign
in doing less... savory... things, if necessary. In the absence of the Sovereign(s)
s/he will be responsible for judging the ranks of the espionage. Together
with the Dreamspeaker, is responsible for assessing which prisoners should
obtained and why.
Requirements usually a Shadow, but a Mercenary is also acceptable.
The Spectres
As the Generals are to the Army, so are the Spectres to the Espionage. They
are responsible for coordinating steals (mainly, who should try to take who)
according to individual skill, avoiding overlap. They are also responsible
for studying the styles and strategies perceived in other herd's spies and
working to crack or understand them (or, if possible and/or needed, assimilate
them).
Requirements a good relationship with the other spies (both
IC and OOC), critical thinking.
The Assassins
Much as the Riddlers are responsible for writing, well, riddles, the Assassins
have their primary task to desiccate steals and, well, kill them by figuring
them out. This is a task much harder than it seems: they must be aware of
the information given by the spectres as well as the ones brought in by the
informants. Moreover, they are partially responsible for assessing the validity
of the other herds' steals and distributing blocking rights among the spies
(although they will be the main riddle-breakers) so as to facilitate (if needed)
their progress in the espionage titles. Remember, stealing and blocking is
a task of the whole of the espionage. Teamworking at its best.
Requirements critical thinking, a modicum of skill in riddle-breaking
and yes, patience by the buckets.
The Riddlers
Just as their namesake: the ones (most) responsible for stealing. Their mission
is to write convincing riddles that will not only be hard to guess, but also
clear enough to be valid. They must abide by the Spectres' guidance (but they
are welcome to disagree). While this is a task shared by all of the espionage,
the Riddlers are especially responsible for it. Usually they will be scouts
on their way to the Mercenary title or Mercenaries vying to improve their
tally prior to the shadow battle.
Requirements a modicum of skill in riddle-writing and patience.
Lots of it.
The Informants
The eyes and ears of the espionage. Their work is covert: they are responsible
for keeping track of other herds' individuals and coming up with possible
targets, reporting them to the spectres. They are also to establish relationships
(whether positive or negative) with other herds when possible and interact
with those who belong to Ni'Srilan. Their main task -- although this is shared
with the whole of the espionage -- is knowing the other herds' individuals
well enough to facilitate the task of writing riddles and knowing
those who belong to Ni'Srilan well enough to facilitate blocks and feeding
this information to both riddlers and assassins.
Requirements patience, lots of it.
The Agents
The newcomers to the art of espionage: those new to Ni'Srilan who have not
yet proven their worth, as well as the young ones who wish to learn more about
it.
Requirements activity in Ni'Srilan and can we say patience?
THE DREAMSPEAKER
The leader of the scholars, s/he is responsible for keeping track of all
scholarly things (including but not limited to the progress of the scholars
of Ni'Srilan), especially those dealing with the ambassador duties and relationship
with the other herds. S/he will be directly responsible for advising the Sovereign(s)
together with the Nightweaver and the Commander, as well as forging alliances
when needed. Will be responsible for mediating between the ranks of espionage
and the army (as to make sure prisoners are not taken/released by one when
the other is also working for it) as well as for suggesting possible prisoner
trades, as well as keeping track of which prisoners to obtain and when. S/he
must ask the Elementals during their dreams about something related to Ni'Srilan
and must have good diplomatic skills, as well as often communicating with
the other nation's leaders and Dreamspeakers. They must also know the goings
on of the realm intimately, and be trusted by the Sovereignty of Ni'Srilan.
Requirements a good relationship with the Nightweaver and
the Commander, as well as the Sovereign(s); must be an Oracle.
The Prophets
They are responsible for keeping track of the scholars and passing the information
gathered on to the Dreamspeaker. Their main task is to ensure the scholars
work in relative harmony and that their ranks are developing properly, as
well as devising new ways to improve their development and organizing their
tasks (such as figuring which Ambassador to send where). They must be well-connected
with the Dreamspeaker and Sovereignty. They help the lower ranks of the Literati
become active in the realm and in the Academy. Keeping morale and activity
high is also part of their main duty, as well as watching the other realms
activities. If there are no Ambassadors working in another realm, they may
be asked to take that position as well. If they are an Oracle, they must ask
in their Dream something about Ni'Srilan. They also act as a bridge to the
other classes, aiding them whenever possible.
Requirements social skills, willingness to interact with
other classes and help them. Must be at least a Seer.
The Healers
As the name implies, they are responsible for healing -- both in the physical
and psychological aspects -- the members of the herd. Think of them as live-in
psychologists and doctors (if they have such a power). They also try to mend
rifts between herdmates and mediate intra-herd problems. They are to tend
to the wound that come for the Krieg or Suprya. If any series injuries occur,
the Sovereignty and Trinity are to be notified. They are to be active within
the realm and teaching within the Academy. Speaking with the lower ranks of
the realm is their main duty. If there are no Ambassadors working in another
realm, they may be asked to take that position as well. Attempting to be an
Elder in the Academy is also a goal for this position.
Requirements patience, skill in dealing with others and ferreting
out their issues -- and fixing 'em. Preferarbly a Seer but not necessarily
so.
The Ambassadors
Just as the name implies, those who will mediate between Ni'Srilan and the
other herds, to talk with the leader(s) and ambassadors of other herds. They
are to travel to each realm for one season and then report back to Ni'Srilan
with any relevant information. If an alliance is made, one of them will be
chosen to live in that realm, reporting back only when necessary. They are
to watch Desréal for any happenings, as well as establishing relationships
with other realms horses. They are to also be teaching in the Academy and
working toward their Seer title.
Requirements bartering skills, a good relation with basically
everyone, power of persuasion. Preferarbly an Apprentice, but not necessarily
so.
The Teachers
As their name implies, they are responsible for introducing new scholars
into the ways of Ni'Srilan, about the element, when needed and basically guiding
the new scholars into fitting. They are tasked with knowing the scholars --
and aiding the Dreamspeaker and Sovereign(s) in judging the scholars by understanding
to which rank they properly fit.
Requirements basic social skills, willingness to teach (duh)
others and guide them. They are usually Lv I or close to it, but not necessarily,
as this teaching is not related to the teaching that happens in the Academy.
the socialites
Those freshly accepted into the ranks of the scholars but whose skills have
not yet been properly assessed. They are students for the teachers and act
-- much as their namesake -- as social butterflies and welcome wagons for
those new to Ni'Srilan.
Requirements none, really, other than activity within Ni'Srilan.
